Active Navigation 3.3 has shipped!
Southampton, 6 December 2004. Version 3.3 of the Active Navigation Server is now available. This latest release brings a number of improvements to the information navigation functions of Active Navigation as additional integration mechanisms to extend the range of solutions that can be built upon our technology.
Search Enhancements
The Active Navigation search engine has been enhanced to incorporate a configurable "Progressive Search" mechanism to improve the accuracy of results. This allows the results of searches to focus on returning the very best matches for a user's query.
In addition a new integration interface allows the creation of modules that allow the thematic search of the Active Navigation Server to be blended with full text search results from an external search engine.
Web Service Interface
The range of functionality that can be accessed via SOAP based Web Services has been further extended, increasing the ability of partners and customers to create sophisticated solutions that benefit from the information analysis and discovery functions of the Active Navigation Server.
Performance
We have carried out extensive testing and profiling to identify areas where system performancce and memory usage can be improved and a number of modifications to both the server and associated tools have been implemented to bring benefits in this area.
Security
Every release of the Active Navigation Server is tested to ensure it is resilient against the latest web server attacks. We have also improved the ability of the server to manage badly behaved clients to avoid normal users being affected.
